Volunteer

The true mission of the Auxiliary is to serve the hospital, its visitors and patients.  Our volunteers are usually the first smiling face you encounter when entering the hospital.  They truly enjoy being able to give back to the community and make a difference by volunteering throughout the hospital.

Our Auxilians are more than happy to assist you in many areas of the hospital including the Gift Shop, Snack Bar, Information Desk, Outpatient Services, Hospice, and the Community Relations Department. They also volunteer at special events such as the annual DCH Health-A-Fair.

There are many options for those who want to lend a helping hand to patients and families in Hospice care.  Volunteers are needed to visit the patient in their home and to provide support. Some volunteers are more comfortable supporting the patient’s family through the grieving process and assisting with bereavement calls and mailings, while other Hospice volunteers may choose to assist with office clerical duties. For more information on becoming a Hospice volunteer, please call DCH Home Health & Hospice at 812-537-8192 or 800-676-5428.

New volunteers are always welcomed.  For more information about the Auxiliary of Dearborn County Hospital, please call Sylvia Plashko, DCH Auxiliary President, at 812-537-8217 or 800-676-5572, ext. 8217.
