Qualifications
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN I: High School Diploma or GED required. Indiana Pharmacy Tech in Training or Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required. Previous hospital or healthcare experience preferred. Appropriate telephone etiquette required. Good reading skills required. Must be able to perform simple to moderately difficult mathematic calculations. PHARMACY TECHNICIAN II: High School Diploma or GED required. Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required. Completion of Tech I training or equivalent and completion of Tech II certification program required. Must be able to perform simple to moderately difficult mathematic calculations. Previous hospital pharmacy experience, typing, and scheduling flexibility preferred. Knowledge of computers and Pyxis hardware required.
Description
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, performs various duties relating to drug distribution, repackaging of drugs, inventory control, quality assurance, computer entry, and any other activities of Dearborn County Hospital Pharmacy. Performs various duties relating to drug distribution to ensure an expeditious and cost-effective drug delivery system. Performs various duties relating to the repackaging of drugs for distribution to ensure accurate identification of all drugs for safe administration to patients. Performs various duties relating to inventory control in order to enable the Pharmacy to control costs and continues to maintain an adequate level of all drugs at all times. Performs various computer entry procedures to facilitate accurate medication charges, inventory levels and report printing. Performs various quality assurance/quality control tasks to ensure a high quality of drug delivery, drug control, department infection control and monitoring the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. In addition to the above, a Pharmacy Technician II performs various duties relating to IV drug preparation and distribution to ensure a quality product and service.
