Unit Clerk/Patient Care Assistant
Part-Time, 32 hrs. per 2 week pay period
Days/Evenings, including every other third weekend and holiday
High school diploma or GED required. Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the Registry. Willingness to work with the realization that errors may have serious consequences for residents/patients. Patience and tact in dealing with residents/patients crucial. Constant use of computer screen daily.
A Nursing student in good standing and currently enrolled at a N.L.N. accredited program who has successfully completed one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation or a graduate of an approved Nursing program.
The Unit Clerk/Patient Care Assistant is responsible for efficient and effective clerical activities and processing of information and communication of a specific unit or department. The Unit Clerk/Patient Care Assistant has completed training, including 20 hours of Medical/Surgical training, competency evaluation and certification to perform basic nursing care procedures under the direct supervision of professional nursing staff. Maintains records for completeness and readiness. Demonstrates clinical skills, appropriate knowledge and judgment in performing basic procedures, and direct patient care. Demonstrates appropriate precautions and responsibility to provide a safe and healthy environment. Participates in the nursing process to achieve identified patient needs.
