The Dearborn County Hospital Foundation
recently hosted its annual awards banquet at the Dearborn
Country Club. At the event, 14 high school graduates from the
class of 2009 received $500 scholarships through the Dearborn
County Hospital Foundation High School Senior Scholarship
Program. An additional six students were presented with
grant/loans as part of the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation
and Dearborn County Hospital Healthcare Student Grant/Loan
Program.
Dearborn County Hospital Foundation
President, Rev. Jeremy Russell, began the evening by welcoming
those in attendance. A buffet dinner was provided, followed by
remarks from Peter V. Resnick, DCH Executive Director. The
program concluded with the presentation of scholarships and
grant/loans.
Stephen Patz, a member of the DCH
Foundation Board of Directors, began the presentations by
awarding the Edward and Grace Gray Scholarship to Elizabeth Shay
Brown of Rising Sun. Ms. Brown, a graduate of Rising Sun High
School, plans to major in Nursing at Beckfield College.
Mr. Patz also awarded the Anna F. Woods
Estate Award to Ashley Bovard of Vevay, a graduate of
Switzerland County High School who will study Nursing at IUPUI.
Board Certified Neurologist, Usman Siddiqui,
M.D., President of the Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society,
presented the DCH Medical Staff Award to Alaina Hartman of West
Harrison, a graduate of East Central High School who is enrolled
in the Audiology program at Ball State University.
Dr. Siddiqui continued by presenting the
Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society Scholarship to Jordan
Clements of Holton. Ms. Clements, a graduate of South Ripley
High School, is enrolled in the Pre-Medicine program at Indiana
University.
Betty Fulton, President of the Dearborn
County Hospital Auxiliary, awarded the Elizabeth Anderson
Scholarship to Julie Meyer of Batesville. Ms. Meyer, a graduate
of Batesville High School, is majoring in Nursing at IUPUI.
Mrs. Fulton and Luther Rice, a member of
the DCH Foundation Board of Directors and also a member of the
DCH Auxiliary, presented DCH Auxiliary Awards to Wayne Hartsburg
of Moores Hill, a home schooled student who will study Nursing
at The Christ College of Nursing & Health Sciences; Kelly Wagner
of West Harrison, a graduate of Franklin County High School who
will major in Nursing at Ball State University; and Rachael
Wuestefeld of Batesville, a graduate of Oldenburg Academy who
has enrolled in the Physical Therapy program at the College of
Mount St. Joseph.
The family of the late Dr. Noshir
Toddywalla, comprised of his mother Roda, his sister-in-law
Maharukh, and his nieces Shirez and Natasha, presented the
Noshir R. Toddywalla, M.D., Memorial Scholarship to Darcy
Robinson of Milan. Ms. Robinson, a graduate of Milan High
School, is enrolled in the Physical Therapy program at the
University of Indianapolis.
E.G. McLaughlin, representing the
Lawrenceburg Lions Club, presented the organization’s award to
Emily Rennekamp of Lawrenceburg. A graduate of Lawrenceburg
High School, Ms. Rennekamp is enrolled in the Pharmacy program
at Butler University.
DCH Foundation Treasurer Michael McLaughlin
continued by presenting the Anna Cook O’Brien Awards to Brittany
Baker of Guilford, a graduate of East Central High School who
plans to major in Nursing at Ball State University; and Kristen
Duerstock of Batesville, a graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School
who will study Nursing at the University of Indianapolis.
President and CEO of United Community Bank,
William Ritzmann, who is also Chairman of the DCH Board of
Trustees, awarded the United Community Bank Scholarship to
Brooklyn Bovard of Aurora, a graduate of South Dearborn High
School who is enrolled in the Nursing program at Indiana State
University.
A Dearborn County Hospital Foundation
Scholarship was also awarded to Nancy Nicolai of Lawrenceburg, a
graduate of Lawrenceburg High School. She will major in
Pre-Medicine at Indiana University.

certificates by Mr. Resnick and Rev. Russell. The grant/loan
