DEARBORN COUNTY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION HOSTS ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET

The Dearborn County Hospital Foundation recently hosted its annual scholarship banquet at the Dearborn Country Club.  A total of 14 high school graduates from the class of 2010 received $500 scholarships through the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation High School Senior Scholarship Program.  An additional five students were awarded grant/loans as part of the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation and Dearborn County Hospital Healthcare Student Grant/Loan Program.

Dearborn County Hospital Foundation President Jim Faust opened the evening by welcoming those in attendance.  A buffet dinner was provided, followed by remarks from Peter V. Resnick, DCH Executive Director.  The program concluded with the presentation of scholarships and grant/loans.

Mr. Faust began the presentations by awarding the Edward and Grace Gray Scholarship to Lindsey Morano.  Ms. Morano, a graduate of Rising Sun High School, will enter the speech/language pathology program at Ball State University.

Mr. Faust also awarded the Anna F. Woods Estate Award to Emily Bare, a graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School who will study nursing at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus.

Board Certified Pediatrician and Foundation Board Member Dr. Elizabeth Reece presented the DCH Medical Staff Award to Anna Schulte, a graduate of Oldenburg Academy who will major in nursing at the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Dr. Usman Siddiqui, Board Certified Neurologist and President of the Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society, continued by presenting the Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society Scholarship to Jonathan Ward, a graduate of Batesville High School who will be a pre-med major at Hanover College.

Betty Fulton, President of the Dearborn County Hospital Auxiliary and a Member of the DCH Foundation Board of Directors, awarded the Elizabeth Anderson Scholarship to Sara Sandford.  Ms. Sandford, a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, will major in nursing at Indiana University.

Mrs. Fulton then presented the DCH Auxiliary Awards to Melissa Horan, Baylie Judy and Jenifer Patrick.  Ms. Horan, who graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School, has enrolled in the occupational therapy program at the University of Indianapolis, while Ms. Judy, a graduate of Switzerland County High School, will be in the radiologic technology program at the University of Southern Indiana.  Ms. Patrick, a graduate of South Ripley Junior-Senior High School, has also chosen to major in occupational therapy at the University of Indianapolis.

The family of the late Dr. Noshir Toddywalla, comprised of his mother Roda, sister-in-law Maharukh, niece Natasha and Maharukh’s mother Bacha Shross, presented the Noshir R. Toddywalla, M.D., Memorial Scholarship to Ashley Zengerling.  Ms. Zengerling, a graduate of East Central High School, is enrolled in the nursing program at Northern Kentucky University.

Dearborn County Hospital Foundation Treasurer Michael McLaughlin presented the Lawrenceburg Lions Club Award to Megan Harrell.  A graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, Ms. Harrell will be studying nursing at the University of Indianapolis.

Mr. McLaughlin continued by presenting the Anna Cook O’Brien Awards to Travis Hawkins and Hannah Martin.  Mr. Hawkins is a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School with plans to study nursing at Ball State University, while Ms. Martin, a graduate of South Dearborn High School, has enrolled in the physical therapy program at Indiana University.

President and CEO of United Community Bank, William Ritzmann, who is also Chairman of the Dearborn County Hospital Board of Trustees, awarded the United Community Bank Award to Cody Marsee, a graduate of Milan High School who is enrolled in the physical therapy program at IUPUI.

A Dearborn County Hospital Foundation Scholarship was also awarded to Melinda Rauch, a Franklin County High School graduate who will study nursing at the University of Indianapolis.

Students receiving Dearborn County Hospital Foundation and Dearborn County Hospital Healthcare Student Grant/Loans were also recognized.  The grant/loan recipients are

  • Ellisha Barmore of Lawrenceburg, Associate of Science in Nursing Degree, Ivy Tech Community College

  • Katelyn Bruns of Milan, Associate of Science in Nursing Degree, Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health

  • Matt Graessle of Edgewood, Kentucky, Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy, University of Cincinnati

  • Melissa Scudder of Florence, Indiana, Associate Degree of Applied Science for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

  • Angie White of Lawrenceburg, Associate of Science in Nursing Degree, Ivy Tech Community College.
