Following tradition, two infants
were chosen as Prince and Princess of the Dearborn
County 4-H and Community Fair Baby Contest. More than
100 children entered the contest which is sponsored
annually by the fair board and the Dearborn County
Hospital Birthing Center.
Chosen as this year’s princess was
18 month old Kaitlyn Ely, daughter of Jayna and Daniel
Ely. Kaitlyn was brought to the fair by her
parents and big brother Brett, age 5, who helped cheer
for his little sister.
This year’s prince is 12 month old
Anthony Schmidt III. Anthony attended the contest with
mother Lindsay Graham, grandfather Shaun Graham and
great-grandparents Tom and Carol Graham. Royalty runs
in Anthony’s family as grandfather Shaun won the
Dearborn County Fair Baby Contest in 1956 and placed
second in 1957, as shown by the framed certificate and
ribbons held by Carol Graham.
Both the Prince and Princess
received $100 savings bonds courtesy of the Dearborn
County Hospital Birthing Center and a commerative trophy
courtesy of Kroger. Dearborn County Hospital also
covered the cost of the contest’s entrance fee and was a
fair sponsor for that evening.
In addition, Board Certified
Pediatrician Dr. Elizabeth Campbell and Board Certified
Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Edward Reece presented
gift baskets to two lucky door prize winners on behalf
of the Center for Women and Children.
