RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT
FOCUS OF AUGUST BETTER BREATHERS MEETING
The next Better Breathers Club meeting at
Dearborn County Hospital will be on Thursday, August 19, from 1:00
to 2:30 p.m. in the Dearborn Room. Adults who suffer from asthma,
chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, fibrosis and other
respiratory illnesses are welcome.
At the meeting, Dianne Williams, R.R.T., the
group’s coordinator, will provide information on the proper use and
care of various respiratory devices and equipment. Local durable
medical equipment (DME) companies are scheduled to demonstrate the
latest in portable respiratory care products. Both Mrs. Williams
and the DME representatives will answer questions about changes in
the federal guidelines regarding oxygen equipment usage that are
scheduled to go into effect in 2011.
“Better Breathers is open to any adult with a
lung condition. Participants may also bring a family member or
friend,” stated Mrs. Williams, DCH Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Specialist. “The organization is designed to provide motivation and
encouragement for individuals to do everything they can to keep
their lives full and satisfying.”
The Better Breathers Club, co-sponsored by DCH
and the American Lung Association of Indiana, is a local chapter of
the national organization.
Meetings are free of charge and open to the
public. Refreshments will be served. Prior registration is not
required but is appreciated. To register, please call the DCH
Education Department at (812) 537-8431 or (800) 676-5572, ext. 8431.
