SAFE SITTER COVERS FIRST AID, BABY-SITTING AND CPR BASICS

Dearborn County Hospital’s next Safe Sitter class for girls and boys, ages 11 through 13 years, will be on Friday, June 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the hospital’s conference rooms.

Tina Butt, R.N., DCH Emergency Medical Services/Emergency Cardiac Care Coordinator, will instruct the future baby-sitters in the growth, development and safety of young children.  The class stresses how appropriate behavior, good judgment and planning help make baby-sitting safer and easier for both the child and the sitter.  Participants are encouraged to ask questions and enter into group discussions.

Course topics include child development, safety, basic first aid and tips for success.  Participants will also be instructed in infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and age-appropriate choking maneuvers.

The fee to attend is $40 per person with lunch provided.  Registration is limited to the first 18 paid students.  For more information or to register, please call the DCH Education Department at (812) 537-8431 or (800) 676-5572, ext. 8431.
