dr. carol
montjoy returns after completion of pulmonary/critical care medicine
fellowship
Following the completion of a Fellowship in
Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at West Virginia University in
Morgantown, Dr. Carol Montjoy has returned to practicing medicine in
Dearborn County.
“It’s great to be back in Southeastern
Indiana,” announced Carol Montjoy, M.D. “I am very happy everything
worked out so that I could return to Lawrenceburg following my
fellowship. Since I previously worked with many members of the
Dearborn County Hospital Medical Staff and much of the hospital’s
clinical staff, it has made getting acclimated to my new
Lawrenceburg practice much easier.
“My practice is located in the medical offices
of Internists Doctors Jane Blinzler and Nancy Kennedy where I see
both internal medicine and pulmonary patients,” Dr. Montjoy added.
“In addition, I care for patients in Dearborn County Hospital’s
Intensive Care Unit and Medical/Surgical Units at the request of the
individual’s primary care physician or specialist. I will also
continue to work in close association with fellow Pulmonary/Critical
Care Medicine Specialist Dr. Radu Zidarescu.
“As a Pulmonologist, I care for patients with a
variety of lung conditions including asthma, lung cancer, pneumonia,
sarcoidosis, sleep apnea or tuberculosis,” Dr. Montjoy explained.
“However, the most prevalent diagnosis in this area is Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which includes chronic
bronchitis and emphysema. COPD is often a direct result of cigarette
use.”
Pulmonary medicine deals with the diseases of
the lungs and airways, while critical care medicine is involved with
all aspects of management of patients in an intensive care unit or
similar setting. Pulmonology is related to critical care because
patients often require ventilatory support. Many Pulmonologists are
certified to practice both critical care and pulmonary medicine.
Dr. Montjoy is a graduate of Seton High School
and earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the
University of Cincinnati. She then completed a three year Residency
in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Following her residency, Dr. Montjoy practiced
at DCH with Dr. Zidarescu from 2003 to 2007, after which she began
her fellowship training.
While at West Virginia University, Dr. Montjoy
served as Chief Fellow from March 2009 through February 2010 and was
honored as Outstanding Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Fellow for
2009 and named Best of Class for 2008.
Dr. Montjoy’s office currently is located in
Suite 310 of the DCH Professional Building, 606 Wilson Creek Road,
Lawrenceburg. In mid-June, Doctors Montjoy, Blinzler and Kennedy
will relocate their offices across the street to DCH’s new
professional building at 605 Wilson Creek Road.
Dr. Montjoy is now accepting new internal
medicine and pulmonary/critical care patients. For more information
