AUXILIARY DONATES
ADDITIONAL $40,000 TO HOSPITAL STUDY AT ANNUAL RECOGNITION BANQUET
Dearborn County Hospital recently recognized
its Auxiliary at a banquet held in their honor at the Hollywood
Casino Party Room. The yearly event featured a buffet dinner
followed by the organization’s annual meeting and special
entertainment.
Highlighting this year’s banquet was the
Auxiliary’s donation of an additional $40,000 to the hospital’s
Screening Breast MRI Clinical Trial. This brings the Auxiliary’s
total contribution for the study to $100,000. Since its founding in
1958, the DCH Auxiliary has donated more than $1.71 million to the
hospital.
“Regardless of the challenges we set before
them, the DCH Auxiliary always comes through for the hospital, its
patients and the community at large. This donation is just the most
recent example of how the Auxiliary goes above and beyond to assist
the hospital in providing the latest technology and services for its
patients,” stated Peter V. Resnick, DCH Executive Director.
Following the dinner, Auxiliary President Betty
Fulton presented her annual report summarizing the Auxiliary’s
accomplishments. Special mention was made of the Auxiliary’s
contribution of 25,686 hours of volunteer service to the hospital
this year.
The meeting continued with the election of
officers. Re-elected to their current positions were Marita Cizek
as Second Vice President; Marjorie Waldon as Recording Secretary;
and Sue Haskett as Treasurer. Officers continuing in their posts
were Mrs. Fulton, President; Nancy DeWees, First Vice President;
Jackie Johnston, Corresponding Secretary; Marjorie Eisenshank, Gift
Shop Treasurer; and Betty Swales, Snack Bar Treasurer.
A high point of the evening was the recognition
of members who had reached milestones in their number of service
hours to the hospital. All those honored were awarded a pin and/or
a guard recognizing their hours of volunteer service.
This year’s honorees were:
-

Campbell, Jack Jerger, Helen Peters and John Vincent

In 2002, the hospital began recognizing
volunteers who had reached milestones in age and volunteer service
by honoring them as Life Members. This year, Dorris Bourquein was
awarded Life Member status.
DCH Executive Director Peter V. Resnick
continued the program by expressing his most sincere gratitude to
the Auxiliary for their tremendous support of the hospital and its
services. In his address, Mr. Resnick noted the Auxiliary’s many
hours of service and their ongoing monetary gifts to the hospital.
He was especially grateful for their generosity and support of the
Screening Breast MRI Clinical Trial.
Concluding the evening was a performance by the
CincinNatalies. Vocalists Liz Comstock and Lesley Hitch,
accompanied by pianist Greg Lee, performed a variety of songs made
famous by former Cincinnatians such as Andy Williams and Doris Day.
The DCH Auxiliary is comprised of approximately
125 active volunteers. Sixteen new members were welcomed to the
organization in the past year. Auxilians serve the hospital by
volunteering in the following hospital areas: Gift Shop, Health
Information Management, Hospice, Information Desk, Lifeline,
Outpatient Services, Rehabilitation Services, Sewing Room, Snack
