Dearborn County Hospital’s Hospice program is looking
for volunteers who can provide respite care for the
family of patients who are terminally ill. Volunteers
will be asked to visit with a Hospice patient at the
patient’s home, nursing home or hospital room.
“Respite care allows the family to take a break,
complete household chores or leave and run necessary
errands,” explained Tim Heller, MSW, LCSW, DCH Hospice
Social Worker. “Interested persons are asked to be able
to assist Hospice once or twice a month for at least a
year.”
Training will be provided in the DCH Home Health &
Hospice offices, 370 Bielby Road, Lawrenceburg, in
November at a date and time to be announced.
Services provided by Dearborn County Hospital Hospice
include skilled nursing and personal care; pain and
symptom management; medical social services; nutritional
counseling; physical, speech and occupational therapies;
and spiritual counseling, in addition to bereavement
services for the family and loved ones.
