DCH HARRISON PHYSICAL
THERAPY SAYS THANKS FOR PUMPKIN ENTRIES
On a recent cloudy October afternoon the rows
of bright orange pumpkins displayed at Dearborn County Hospital
Physical Therapy in the DCH Harrison Outpatient Diagnostic Center
were a bright addition to the office.
The pumpkins were brought to the center on
October 13 and 14 for the Harrison facility’s first pumpkin
decorating contest. This contest was an offshoot of the popular
pumpkin decorating contest that takes place each fall in the
Physical Therapy Department of Dearborn County Hospital. DCH’s
annual pumpkin competitions coincide with the American Cancer
Society’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
There were a total of 31 entries at the
Harrison location, some featuring hats, glasses, feathers and even
flowers. For each of the pumpkins entered, DCH is donating $10 to
the ACS to be used for breast cancer education and research.
“Thanks to all the entrants for their hard
work! The pumpkins were very creatively decorated and we were happy
so many individuals and groups participated in our contest,” stated
Ben Huber, MPT, DCH Physical Therapist. “I’d also like to thank Amy
Wilson, Income Development Coordinator for the Ohio Division of the
American Cancer Society, for attending our open house.
The winners in each division were:
-
second grade and younger: Mia Neckel’s
second grade class at Crosby Elementary, with a painted green
witch
-
third through 10th grade: Grace
Lohman, age 10 of Harrison, with a classic carved
jack-o’-lantern
-
11th and 12th grades
and adults: Deborah Martin and her co-workers from the Harrison
offices of Michael Uhde, D.M.D., M.S., with a spider and its
eight legs.
The contest took place during an open house
that celebrated the second anniversary of Dearborn County Hospital
Physical Therapy at the DCH Harrison Outpatient Diagnostic Center.
After the open house, many of the pumpkins were donated to the
Shawneespring Health Care Center in Harrison.
