DCH AUXILIARY MEMBERS
ATTEND IHAA CONVENTION IN INDY
This October, eight members of the Auxiliary of
Dearborn County Hospital attended the 59th annual Indiana
Hospital Auxiliaries Association (IHAA) Convention at the Marriott
East in Indianapolis. The DCH Auxiliary participates in a number of
IHAA programs and events throughout the year.
DCH Auxiliary officers and members attending
this year’s convention were Betty Fulton, President; Marita Cizek,
Second Vice President and IHAA Southeast Area Secretary; Betty
Swales, Snack Bar Treasurer; Carolyn Bailiff and Vicki Shroyer, Gift
Shop Managers; and members Wilma Holden, Phyllis Johnson and Barbara
Rice. Peter V. Resnick, DCH Executive Director, and Anita Benning,
DCH Community Relations Director, also attended the evening banquet
that recognized the collective work of the organization.
“At the convention, we are provided with a
variety of information beneficial to our Auxiliary including updates
on IHAA requirements and activities. We also have the opportunity
to network with Auxilians from all over the state and gain insight
into how we can improve our own organization,” stated Mrs. Fulton.
The Auxiliary of Dearborn County Hospital was
chartered in 1958. Over the past five decades the Auxiliary has
contributed more than $1.7 million to the hospital, including recent
donations to assist with the hospital’s clinical trial of screening
breast MRI for the detection of breast cancer. Its members, known
as Pink Ladies and Red Coats, volunteer in various areas of the
hospital including the Snack Bar, Information Desk, Gift Shop,
Health Information Management, Hospice, Lifeline, Outpatient
Services, Rehabilitation Services, Sewing Room, Subacute Unit and
Community Relations; and as Messengers.
