regarding the meningitis outbreak in the South and
Midwest that has been linked to the use of compounded
injectable steroids.
Dearborn County Hospital patients are not at risk for
meningitis due to the use of compounded injectable
steroids. Please be assured that Dearborn County
Hospital does not and has never utilized compounded
injectable steroids. All injectable steroids
administered at Dearborn County Hospital are prepared by
FDA approved pharmaceutical manufacturers under the most
stringent standards and conditions.
Individuals who have recently received injectable
steroids at facilities other than Dearborn County
Hospital or a Health Services Corporation of
Southeastern Indiana physician’s office and who are
experiencing symptoms such as a new or worsening
headache, fever, neck stiffness or pain at the injection
site, should contact their physician immediately to
determine if they have been administered a recalled
product and to receive further evaluation.
