A well-respected local ophthalmologist, Dr. Ira Younger, has joined Dearborn County Hospital’s network of hospital owned physician practices.  Dr. Younger, who has offices in both Lawrenceburg and Batesville, has been an integral part of the area’s medical community since 1995.

“I am extremely pleased to be part of Dearborn County Hospital’s physician network,” stated Dr. Younger.  “On a day to day basis, I believe that the best medical care is that which is provided locally, so I am very happy to be a part of this community’s physician group.

“All of my procedures are performed in my Lawrenceburg or Batesville offices or at Dearborn County or Margaret Mary Community Hospitals.  Patients appreciate receiving quality care close to home where they feel comfortable and where they can set their own agenda and pace for the day,” he added.  “Some of my patients have been with me for almost 17 years and I appreciate the trust they have in me to care for themselves and their loved ones.”

Board Certified in Ophthalmology, Dr. Younger provides both routine and specialized adult and pediatric ophthalmologic care including treatment for glaucoma and diabetic eye care. Procedures include no stitch cataract surgery, laser scanning and laser treatment for glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.

Having received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Younger earned his Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.  He then completed an internship program at Hennepin County Medical Center, also in Minneapolis, and a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California at Irvine followed by a Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Younger is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
