Aurora
Physical Therapy is credentialed as a free standing
physical therapy clinic under Health Services
Corporation (HSC), a subsidiary company owned by
Dearborn County Hospital. The office is
located at 107 Bridgeway Street, Suite 202, Aurora,
Indiana and is staffed by Dearborn County Hospital
outpatient physical therapists. Aurora Physical
Therapy is open by appointment, Monday through
Friday with evening hours available.
Aurora
Physical Therapy was created to assist patients who
have a limited or differential coverage for physical
therapy when provided at a hospital based outpatient
department as opposed to a freestanding physical
therapy clinic. Some insurance companies now provide
restricted or higher co-pay insurance for physical
therapy at hospital-based centers as compared to
free-standing therapy clinics and for some insurance
companies, the opposite holds true. In either case,
when patients call to set up an appointment at any
one of our locations, our staff will perform a
courtesy check of their insurance and provide them
financial options so that they may make an informed
financial decision to where they wish to receive
physical therapy.

Pediatric
Speech Therapy
Do you have concerns
regarding your child's communication skills? Take a moment to
review the
Speech-Language Screening Quiz to see if
your child might require further evaluation.
We offer a child friendly
and family focused environment with play-based therapy sessions.
Our goal is to provide individualized treatment to help each child
gain as much functional communication and intelligible speech as
possible. Conditions requiring speech therapy may be a result of
apraxia, autism, down syndrome, stuttering or a speech and language
delay.
Adult
Speech Therapy
Adults services are
provided to inpatients, outpatients and through home health
services. Comprehensive assessments and treatment plans are
designed to improve deficits and overall quality of life. These
deficits may be related to various speech, language, cognitive,
voice and swallowing disorders that may result from a stroke, brain
injury, Parkinson's Disease or Alzheimer disease. Throughout the
process, patients and family members are educated to use new
strategies and techniques to compensate for communication or
swallowing disorders.

OCCUPATIONAL
THERAPY
The Occupational Therapy
Department at Dearborn County Hospital provides services to patients
of all ages in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient,
outpatient and home health/hospice. The skills of an Occupational
Therapist are needed when health problems challenge a person’s
ability to engage in daily life activities. Occupational Therapy
helps people in developing the skills for the “job of living”
necessary for independent and satisfying lives.
The outpatient Occupational
Therapy department offers specialized care for pediatrics and upper
extremity/hand injuries. The following are examples of conditions
and injuries to the upper extremity that would require the skills of
an Occupational Therapist—amputations, cumulative trauma, burns,
tendon injuries, arthritis, crush injuries, trauma, sports injuries
and upper extremity fractures. Occupational Therapists use various
treatment tools to improve function including splinting, modalities
(iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, electrical stimulation and
ultrasound), and the BTE Work Simulator II. The BTE is used to
simulate numerous work-related tasks to design a rehabilitation
program specific to the patient’s needs.
Outpatient Occupational
Therapy services may benefit a child who displays learning delays or
deficits; delayed or uncoordinated fine motor skills affecting hand
function with grasping, handwriting, cutting, eating or construction
tasks; sensory processing difficulties such as difficulty attending
to tasks or oversensitivity to touch, movement, sound and/or light;
neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental
delays, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, etc.; delayed self care
skills such as shoe tying, dressing, bathing, etc. Occupational Therapists use therapeutic
skills that promote age-appropriate development in the areas of
play, self care and learning.
For more information,
please contact the DCH Occupational Therapy Department at
812-532-2607 or 800-676-5572, ext. 2607.
